Protective effect of 5-methoxyflavone on LPS-induced ALI in mice. (A) Lung pathological changes of LPS-challenged mice with or without 5-methoxyflavone administration (i.g., 25, 50 mgā‹…kg-1ā‹…d-1) were examined by H&E staining. (B) The lung injury score of all groups was assessed based on lung pathological changes. (C) Lung/body weight ratios (lung index; an indicator of lung injury) of all groups were measured at 48 h after LPS challenge. (D) Representative images of active-caspase 3 and TUNEL-positive cells in the epithelial (EpCAM+) cells of the lung tissues were presented. (E) The fluorescence intensities for active-caspase 3 and TUNEL in the epithelial (EpCAM+) cells were quantified.
