Changes in selected clinical biochemistry parameters. AST (A), creatinine (B), troponin (C) and potassium (D) were measured in plasma of healthy rats and of I/R animals before CPB (T1), after 25 minutes of cooling (T2) and after 60 minutes of reperfusion (T5). AST activity is given in units per liter (U/l). Creatinine concentration is presented in mg/dl. Troponin is given in pg/ml. Potassium concentration is presented in mg/dl. Data are the means ± SEM of six independent experiments. Significant differences by one-way ANOVA with Tukey-test post analysis is marked by one asterisk (*) for p < 0.05 and by two asterisks (**) for p < 0.01. For inter-group differences see Table 2.
