Plasma samples obtained 2 h after oral ingestion of PFE inhibited IL-1β-induced PGE 2 production by chondrocytes. Confluent chondrocytes were serum starved and then treated as described for Figure 3 above. The amount of PGE2 produced in the medium was measured as described in Materials and Methods. Data were derived from two independent experiments, each run in duplicate. Values shown are Mean ± SE and differ without a common letter (P < 0.005).
