The formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs). Bacteria, viruses, fungi, cholesterol and urate crystals, lipids, activated platelets and complements can induce neutrophil activation and produce NETs through three secretory modes: suicidal, non-lytic and mitochondrial DNA release. The process of neutrophils secreting NETs is called NETosis.
