Comparison of IL-8, HIF 1α, and 11βHSD1 upregulation in fat cells vs. nonfat cells incubated 48 h. The nonfat cells and fat cells, obtained by digestion of human adipose tissue with collagenase, were incubated for 48 h. The values shown are the mean ± SEM of the ratios of mRNA at 48 h as compared to that at the start of the incubation [log2 scale] for 4 experiments from as many different individuals. Statistically significant changes are indicated as follows: * P < 0.05 and ** P < 0.025.
