Bax-α levels within cytosolic and mitochondrial fractions of cells after 4 hours of treatment as measured by ELISA. Cells were untreated (control) or treated with DMSO (1%), tobacco smoke condensate (80 μg/ml), paraldehyde (10 μM), nicotine (1 mM), hydrogen peroxide (10 μM) and CSE (50 and 100%). Closed bars show mean Bax-α levels in the mitochondrial fraction and open show the cytoplasmic fraction. Bars are the mean ± s.e. mean Bax-a/ml assay medium from at least 3 separate experiments.
