Lipid body formation in leukocytes and leukotriene B 4 and PGE 2 production in BALF of OA treated mice. Animals received 10 μmol OA by i.v. injection (dark columns). Lipid bodies at 6 h (A) and 24 h (B) after the OA injection were enumerated in 50 consecutive cells in osmium-stained cytocentrifuged smears; LTB4(C) at 6 h and PGE2(D) at 24 h after OA challenge were determined in the BALF by ELISA. The control group received sterile saline. The results are means ± SEM of 6 animals in each group. *P < 0.001, compared to controls.
